Academic success - nothing less

You believe it - we can achieve it

Greetings Students and Parents:

It is with great pride and joy that I continue to serve as Principal of Hillview Elementary School for the 2012-2013 school year. We had a fabulous 2011-2012 school year and we are expecting an even greater year this time around. We have undertaken many things this year, but there is still much work to be done. Education is an evolving process that changes with the growth of each student. I am proud to say Hillview’s faculty and staff stands ready alongside each parent to make sure our student’s academic success be achievable through our synergistic efforts. Our Faculty along with the entire Minor Feeder Pattern will continue our quest for perfection through “Take One,” which is our feeder pattern professional development. In addition, the teachers and students will have an awesome opportunity this school year to participate with the Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI). AMSTI is a researched-based program and incorporates best practices for math and science teaching/learning strategies.

My expanded vision is to ensure that we have daily active engagement in teaching and learning. Secondly, but most importantly, my vision is to continue to have a safe and secure environment within which to cultivate our majestic students. Lastly, my vision is to encourage a continued commitment to a culture of collaboration – which centralizes on outcomes. I envision having parents, community leaders, and all stakeholders continue to share in our educational process. We need increased community involvement and parent involvement. We need to broaden our capacity to educate collaboratively. It takes a village to accomplish these goals and much more.

Communication is the key. The agenda book is one component of the communication process. This tool will keep you informed of your child’s assignments, projects, homework, behavior, etc. The school and district also uses the Information Now System, which is an electronic tool that parents and teachers can use to communicate grades and current student progress. INow can be accessed from home computers. Please remember to sign up for Hillview’s PTA and school volunteer list. We need 100% participation. Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. thru 3:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.

Hillview’s Implied Motto: TEAMWORK – When the Best and the Brightest come together, the      possibilities are endless.

Respectfully,

Bert Stewart, ED. S

Principal Hillview Elementary School

Mission:
Our mission is to provide an environment that is conducive to learning.  It is our mission to provide students with rich educational experiences that are facilitated through nurturing, while encouraging students to be good productive citizens.

We believe that all.......

Students have the right to an environment that is safe and drug free.

Students will have a curriculum that is challenging and developmentally appropriate that will yield high expectations of all students morally and academically.

Students' ability should be nurtured to enhance their self-worth, self development, and academic skills.

Students should gain valuable educational experiences that are applicable to every day life.

Students will have an opportunity to have their academic achievement monitored by a variety of assessments and evaluations.

Students have a right to be exposed to an environment that facilitates parents, teachers, and the community collaborating to improve the quality of education for children.

Students should be taught and led by staff teachers and administrators who value and participate in professional development.
